Even Laptops Go to the Doctor

Hello my dear friends -

My beloved laptop is in the shop for a "tune-up," so tonight I write this from my husband's old computer (the screen appears to be pulsing and I'm sure I'm going to get a migraine at any moment). It is t-minus 1 hour and 15 minutes before "The Constant," and I wanted to make you all aware of yet another change in Lost's schedule for the rest of Season Four. They are now going to put the show on hiatus after episode eight (rather than seven, as previously planned). And then, the balance of the season will start up again one week earlier than originally communicated, on April 24th.

So here are the air dates of the remaining episodes... this is the "official word" from ABC:

Episode 6: March 6
Episode 7: March 13
Episode 8: March 20

HIATUS

Episode 9: April 24
Episode 10: May 1
Episode 11: May 8
Episode 12: May 15
Episode 13: May 22 (Season Finale)

We'll see if they stick with this schedule...

Because of my laptop issues and another packed weekend, I expect to get my post for "The Constant" up by Monday night, March 3rd.

T-minus 1 hour and 7 minutes!

Thanks for the update! Any idea if they will still move the time back an hour starting in April?

I believe that The Constant may have...no was the best episode of Lost yet. Looking forward to seeing your thoughts on it.

This was the best episode. Period. This show has been elevated in all ways. I just can't believe how cool this episode was....off the charts (only missing Locke:-)).

Hi E,
This episode gave me an awesome headache in a good way. I loved, loved loved loved every minute of it, I cannot wait until Monday night to read you post. I have just one gripe (if you can call it that) from one Faraday fan to another, is it me or did 1996 Daniel kind of seemed like a jerk. For one he was not too concerned his rat died, and not too concerned if Des is going to die, he basically tells him "not to cross the street." What??? I mean present day Dan seems like such a nicer guy, ie: crying when he sees the wreckage of 815 and wanting to help Des and wanting to tell Losties about their "perception of time." whadda ya think.

My head hurts after watching this. It is amazing at the writers seem to answer a question but then that answer seems to bring up more questions. One thing that is annoying me more than anything is how Jack is so braindead. For being a doctor he seems to have no curiosity. People bring up strange facts, they get interrupted yet he never inquires further as to what they are talking about. Aren't doctors supposed to ask questions? Jack seems dense sometimes and Lost to anything aroung him. It is kind of odd to me.
I bet you loved this episode E because it feature danny and his crazy hairdue. lol. Can't wait to hear your writeup. You can probably use an extra week to just digest what they heck just happened. I still want to know more about real time vs. perceived yet somehow time on and off the island are the same. Real odd. It was funny too how Sayid mentions Christmas. Since he is muslim he wouldn't really care about Christmas since it is not a holiday in his religion. Sort of a mistake by the writers but it was obvious they wanted to make the point that time is real on and off.

I have no idea what we just watched. But I loved every minute of it. This is the type of episode that will become clearer over time and definately had a Big Picture feel to it.

Hey E,

Well what a crazy episode that was eh'! What I think is going to happen with Desmond and Penny is that they are both going to go looksing for each other and miss each other on the way and Penny will end up on the island. I think this because as they were talking on the phone at the end of the conversation I think the static was too much for them to hear each other as they were talking over each other desperately trying to get a message out. Desmond says "I'll come back to you" and Penny says "I'll come find you" relatively at the same time so I think they are going to search each other out but miss each other on the way.

As well Penny has been looking for Desmond for 3 years ... so how long has he been on the island for considering the time difference between the real world and the island???

And the other obvious thing is that Faraday is unstuck in time as well which is obvious with the card game, trying to remember the cards (obviously he has experienced this moment before) and why he was crying when he heard about the plane crash in the first episode and did not know why.

What a fantastic episode, can't wait for the write-up.

I was on the last night of my vacation in the Bahamas and made my husband go back to the hotel to watch the show! He admitted it was worth it! We missed the first 15 minutes, so I rewatched it when we got home... even better the second time!!! Can't wait for your write-up! This episode was one of my favorites!
I usually like the ones where the most characters are involved, but I do love Des! I loved it when he got to talk to Penny! Star-cossed lovers-aaawww! I think the "other other" is right and they will keep missing eachother, but I hope they will eventually get back together!
So many other questions were raised in this episode! But beside the MAJOR ones I am still wondering... How does Desmond end up in jail? How does Penny end up forgiving him? What made Penny start looking for him in the first place... they didn't leave on the best of terms.
If the perception of time is different, how are the dates right? It's Christmas Eve... in reality which matches with the amount of days they think they've been on the island too. So many questions!
