Enjoy the finale!

Just a quick note to say "Enjoy the finale!"

Remember that tomorrow night ABC will be re-airing the first hour of "There's No Place Like Home" (with extended press conference footage!) at 8 PM EST, before the two new hours start rolling. THREE HOURS STRAIGHT of Lost... can you handle it?

As I will be traveling Thursday - Sunday, I expect it may take me another week to get up my next post, so your patience is appreciated.

Have a great time watching the end of what I feel has been an incredible season...

Take your time since we'll have 7 months to digest.

What's your take on that new show Fringe? Sounds interesting. I like that Abadan character. He's real interesting and creepy. Might fill in that Lost fix.

For those who are wondering:

Daniel Farraday arrives on the island on DAY 91 (December 21st, 2004)

The events of "There's No Place Like Home 2 and 3" (Season Finale) take place on December 31st, 2004 which would be DAY 101.

So . . .

Days with a tie on: TEN

Burning Question: Does he SLEEP with it on? OR DOES he take it off at night and PUT IT BACK on each morning?

. . . and who would rather know the answer to THIS question vs. that silly "What is the smoke monster?" issue?

Well,u're sure not gonna enjoy it :)

Hi everyone -

I am still traveling but did catch the finale in my hotel room. I will give you a sneak preview of something that will be in my write-up... in the final scene, before Ben showed up, I literally said out loud, "Anyone who DOESN'T realize that Ben is in the coffin right now is an IDIOT!!!!"

Oops.

I had feared back when we first saw the coffin that it could be my man. And yes, I did lose sleep over it. But the fact that Ben wants to take him back gives me a glimmer of hope... that and all the talk about miracles in this episode...

And SKID - I love the Tie Count. I think Daniel was still within the confines of the Island so he'll wind up back on the beach, just like Des did when he tried to sail out of there before...

More later... and this one is going to take me a while to pull together... too much to process!

We'll wait here for your review but the sneack-peak us already excellent ,)

Thanks for updating us, E :)

I would love to know what you - and everyone thought - in the 10 or so seconds they had after seeing Ben to process their NEW coffin member guess.

Dear e, You seem to be taking the coffin reveal pretty well. I too thought early on that the coffin had Locke in it, but as the season progressed I foolishly let my guard down. Silly me. I'm hoping for a miraculous resurrection once Locke is returned to the island...or does Ben mean for Locke's spirit to roam the island like Jack's dad? And how come the island didn't save him when he was off doing its bidding? Another thing, wasn't Faraday in a flash forward off-island and crazy?

Questions, questions, perhaps even enough to last seven months. Well, I can take solace that there are a handful of Battlestar Galactica episodes still left before they go on hiatus and return in January for the climatic series finale; Amazing Grace is back on in July; and ABC did renew Eli Stone for a second season. By the way, all three shows are excellent and addictive and if you haven't ever seen them, they are well worth taking a peek!!

Looking forward to your insightful analysis.

I've been reading your blog since the beginning of season 4 and keep it up E, you're awesome.

To Zach Dionne : well, I actually didn't think of nothing at all. I was still processing the Island- frozen-wheel-teleportation-device and going crazy over Ben's speech about them needing to get back. So, no, I didn't think at all. I do the thinking later, in my bed, and then I have trouble staying up at school...God Darlton, look what you do to me.

E, you can visit my blog, well actually I live in Montreal so it won't be of any use since its mostly in french but you can catch some stuff in english...and some pop-culture related pictures too.

Anyways, keep up the good stuff, and let's be patient for next season.

Oh and about Fringe. Watched the preview twice...loved it each time more. Looks good, could be a great serie. But it got me thinking that Mr.Abrams is develloping himself some ego. Planes crashes and FBI agents....Kind of fun though.

Now enough.
Ciao.

e, I sure thought of you after the finale... Something like, "Dude, you might want to change your blog's name or something". And yes, I was all the episode saying "Damn! Poor Benjamin Linus is inside the coffin" A couple of episodes back, when it began to be clear that John was taking Ben's place as the leader of the Others (Ben saying "The island wanted me to get sick and wanted you to get healthy) I started to think that it might be the end of him. And then, when he appeared behind Jack, I wasn't even paying attention to what he was saying... All I was trying to do was figuring out who the hell was in the coffin before they finally revealed it... It was mindblowing! Although, in retrospect, the name "Jeremy Bentham" was a major hint.

E, should we call a medic to check in on you? I'm pretty sure writing up this finale is taking its toll on you.

By the way. Pay close attention to when Ben says goodbye to John. He says something that means more than people believe. Remember how John had such a crappy life growing up.

I'll elaborate more on your finale write-up

I think the best line was when Jack repeated Desmond's famous line back to him: "See you in another life, brotha"---LOVED IT!!! It was absolutely priceless. I'm still convinced that line means something, because Desmond said it to Jack when they met in the stadium. At the time they were discussing whether miracles really exist. A major theme in the season finale was also miracles....but anyway...Desmond has said "see you in another life" about 3 times...so I'm sure it's not just a catch phrase.(One time in the hatch right before he was about to turn the key)

What a finale!!

Is it just me or did anyone else think that upon Ben turning the wheel and white light filling the screen... Th eisland went UNDERWATER?!?! It looked like undertow to me...

Anonymous said...

oh... I don't think it went underwater, although the waves looked like something like that happened. But in that case, we should have seen Juliet, Sawyer et al floating around along with some polar bears, right? Seriously though... just before the orientation video started self-rewinding, Dr. Bunnylover was saying: "At first it will look like it disappeared, but in reality---" I really hope we see how that video continues on Season 5.

Anonymous said...

Now is that DR a clone? He has three names so far. I bet we'll figure out that he was cloned or there are three versions of him in time.

Also Didn't the writers say that we'd get a clue about the 4 toes statue this season? I didn't see anything that would clue in why the statue had 4 toes.

Hey e,

Can't wait to read your thoughts on the finale. Hopefully you've been able to recover from the ending.

Here are my thoughts on the finale from my blog

i cant wait for your recap e.

you know i was thinking something after re-watching locke's episode, cabin fever... i think that richard alpert may be locke's grandfather. i dont have any proof except the look on the face of emily's mother, she knew him, and she seemed surprised to see him there but also a bit afraid, i dont know... and then we see richard wanting john to be the chosen one, and later we see him helping john solving the problem of his father...
anyway, just a thought..

Hi, I'm a long time listener, first time caller. I am amusing my husband in a big way by checking INCESSANTLY for your review online (he's already pretty amused by my fascination w/ Lost). So, you know, its entertaining for him that you haven't posted yet, but I'm dyin. Seriously. A part of my brain is shriveling as I write this. Apparently, its the compassionate, patient part. Sorry. Its a part of my grieving process. 8 months!!!?
:)
Looking forward to it.

Hi guys -

Just checking in again...

I AM in the process of writing the post but I have a LONG way to go and it is already ridiculous.

I am assuming you would like to read something that is good and not a bunch of hastily pulled together crap, so it's probably going to be a few more days. But trust me, I would like it done more than anyone else!

Unfortunately I do not know how to manipulate space-time like some of our friends on the show, so I apologize for the wait. It WILL be worth it. Even more unfortunately, I cannot do anything about the eight month wait for the return of the show AFTER my post is up!

O.k. I'll wait. But if I grow in character by gaining patience, its on your head!

Thanks for your work, truly. I love to read your stuff b/c I have a similarly passionate response to many episodes (much yelling at the computer screen). Its great to read someone else who's all worked up :)

I can't help but mouth off about my eagerness, but on the serious, there's no actual rush. I hope you enjoy writing it as much as I know I'll enjoy reading it :)
